Alexandra Rose Howland is a British American artist and photographer based in Iraq. Howland aims to create work that questions how we interact with traditional imagery, and build a collaborative platform for dialogue around the global political climate. Her work strives to bridge the space of the photographic image with the subjectivity of the viewer, a bridge that has been deeply confused and compromised in the digital age. Through making visible the moments we struggle to articulate, Howland wants to challenge the ways in which image makers can expand on the visual standards we are accustomed to and encourage viewers to step further outside their perambulations.
